I made a "Caputlu Ignelik"

So my partner used to get annoyed that I would leave needles everywhere, so I made myself a Turkish needle holder or "ignelik"  This needle holder has caput oyasi or "cloth oya" around 2 sides of it, and lots of evil eyes.  It was fun to make but sewing the cloth together is annoying.

I also finished my M.I.L's scarf and below is what it looks like.  Its a lovely scarf with green and orange needle lace around.

Peace! x

It's lovely! I've never seen this type. In Poland we just make small cushions. Funny thing, the names are similar in Turkish and in Polish. Needle - igne - igła; needle holder - ignelik - igielnik :)

And the scarf is beautiful.

Why thankyou Piwonia, these "ignelik" are usually hung on a wall or something, so its supposed to look decorative. Isnt that amazing how the 2 languages are so similar? I never would have thought...To be honest I've always wanted to go to poland, I've heard its such a lovely place. And thankyou for your kind comments, its always nice to receive comments from you.

I suppose this is just by chance that the two words are so similar, but it's funny and I like it :) If you are in Poland, please let me know, maybe we would meet :D It is a pity Australia is so far away and I'm not a traveller. Well, maybe some day.

Hi again,
Please can you tell me where I can get some of the Nylon Thread from? I am in Melbourne and as I said in an earlier mail I am a beginner at the Knotted lace so would appreciate your help.

I am a visual person so would really like a teacher but they seem to be out of my reach here in Hastings Vic.
Maybe you could send me an e-mail
joy.mckenzie@optusnet.com.au
Best wishes
Joy
